ABOUT THE WORKFLOW
Remove people from a video
Upload a clip and describe how the scene should look with everyone gone. The workflow erases people, bags, shadows, and other moving objects, then fills in the background that was behind them. The camera motion, lighting, and static background stay intact.
Model
LTX-2.3 (22B) by Lightricks. An open weights video model, running here with a Clean Plate adapter that rebuilds what was behind the removed objects, plus a distilled speed adapter that keeps the step count low. Released under the LTX-2 Community License.
HOW IT WORKS
Step 1. Upload your video
The clip you want cleaned. People, bags, shadows, and other moving objects are removed.
Works great with: locked-off shots · slow camera moves · street and interior plates
Step 2. Describe the empty scene
Say how the shot should look with everyone gone, like "an empty sidewalk with buildings, camera moving forward, no people." A negative prompt comes pre-filled to keep out people and their leftovers.
Step 3. Hit run and download
The model rebuilds the background and returns the cleaned video. This is a large model, so give it a little longer to finish.
Ready for: compositing · plate cleanup · editing timelines
First time? Leave every setting as-is. The defaults are the right starting point for almost everyone.
RECOMMENDED SETTINGS
Quick-start guide. Find the goal that matches yours and copy the settings.
Standard use (most people) — 1024x576, 97 frames, 8 steps, guidance 1. The right starting point for almost everyone.
Match your source shot — set width and height to your clip's aspect ratio so the clean plate lines up when you composite it back over the original.
Want a longer clip — raise the frame count above 97. At 24 frames per second, 97 frames is about four seconds, so add frames for more time.
People leave ghosting or smears — describe the empty background in more detail so the model has something definite to paint back in, and keep the pre-filled negative terms in place.
Want the exact same result again — set a fixed seed in place of random. Random gives you a fresh take on each run.
The prompt feels ignored — this model is built to run at guidance 1, so describe the empty scene precisely rather than pushing guidance higher.
Prompt: Describe the finished empty scene, not the thing you are removing. "An empty marble lobby with a reception desk, static camera, no people" works better than "remove the people." Name the surfaces and structures that should show through so the model knows what to paint back in. The negative prompt already lists people and their leftovers to avoid.

USE CASES
🎬 VFX Plate Cleanup
Generate a clean background plate for compositing without rotoscoping crowds by hand.
🏙️ Location & Real Estate
Clear passersby out of a walkthrough so the space reads empty and calm.
📹 Content & B-roll
Remove a stray person or object that wandered into an otherwise usable shot.
🖼️ Set Extension Prep
Get a people-free base to build matte paintings or CG set extensions on top of.
WHAT WORKS BEST / WHAT TO AVOID
✅ Works great
Locked-off or slow, steady camera moves
Clear space between subjects and the background
Even, consistent lighting across the clip
A prompt that describes the empty scene in detail
⚠️ May produce softer results
Fast or shaky handheld footage
People filling most of the frame
Heavy occlusion, where subjects hide the background
Reflections or shadows tied tightly to the subject
FAQ
What is a clean plate?
A clean plate is a shot of a location with the people and moving objects removed, leaving only the background. VFX teams use it to composite new elements over an empty scene or to build set extensions. This workflow generates one from your footage instead of rotoscoping it by hand.
How does LTX-2.3 remove people and rebuild the background?
The workflow runs LTX-2.3 with a Clean Plate adapter that learns to fill in what sat behind the removed objects. You describe the empty scene, the model erases people and moving objects, and it paints the background back in while holding the camera motion and lighting steady.
Does it remove shadows and reflections too?
It targets people and moving objects along with cues like their shadows, and the pre-filled negative prompt lists shadows, ghosting, and leftover remnants to push those out. Reflections tied closely to a subject are harder, so a detailed prompt of the empty scene helps the model resolve them.
What video length and resolution does this handle?
The defaults are 1024x576 at 97 frames, which is about four seconds at 24 frames per second. Raise the frame count for a longer clip, and set the width and height to match your source so the plate aligns when you composite it back.
Can I use LTX-2.3 commercially?
LTX-2.3 is released under the LTX-2 Community License. It is free for commercial use if your company earns under 10 million dollars in annual revenue, and Lightricks offers a separate commercial license above that. Make sure you also hold the rights to the footage you upload.
How is this different from rotoscoping or a masking tool?
Traditional removal means masking the subject frame by frame and cleaning up the hole left behind. This generates the empty plate from your prompt in one pass, so it is faster and needs no manual masks. The tradeoff is less pixel-exact control, which makes it a strong fit for previs and quick plates.
How to run LTX-2.3 online?
You can run LTX-2.3 online through Floyo. No installation, no setup, no API key to wire up. Open the workflow in your browser, upload a clip, describe the empty scene, and hit run. Free to try.
WHY FLOYO?
Floyo is the only platform with team collaboration for ComfyUI in the browser. You run workflows with no install. You share run history, assets, and models across your team. You pay only when you generate. Floyo supports open-source and closed-source models.
An editor cleans a plate and likes the result. A teammate opens that exact run from shared history and keeps going. No file handoffs. No version confusion.
For studios and enterprise teams, Floyo adds private workspaces, pooled resources, and a team usage dashboard. Other ComfyUI cloud tools run for one person at a time. Floyo runs for the whole team, with transparent per-generation costs.
